Handmade Monday 78

Hello and welcome to Handmade Monday, which is the place to share your latest craft blog post.  This is what you do:
  • blog about something related to handmade
  • add a link to Handmade Harbour in your blog post
  • click the linky tool below so your blog appears on here
  • visit some of the others and leave a comment if you see something you like!
This week I've been playing with fabric

 sofa so good

paper

 having a ripping time

and glue

 testing out techniques

This is a commission for Craftseller magazine, and while I can't show you the whole thing yet, I can tell you that I am quite pleased with how it's shaping up!

I also had a day out this week - and spent the weekend making up for it!  Still, I think I'm lucky to be able to work so flexibly most of the time.  Slotting in a midweek day at the seaside feels like a real treat.

 sun and sea

What's your week been like?

I love Craftseller. I got my first copy a couple of months before Christmas last year and I ended up taking a subscription after I got upset over missing one issue. Sad but true!

Your project looks very interesting. I will be looking forward to seeing the end product!

Doh! I was being dim then. We are 2 hrs ahead you see.
Your applique looks lovely Wendy, can't wait to see more of it. I've been doing some freestyle machine applique myself this week too. Must be something in the air :)

The little sofa embroidery really appeals to the machine-embroiderer in me - such simple images are really brought to life with the addition of an embroidered line.

Already liking the look of that sofa- look forward to seeing the completed project

Like the revised rules at the top of the post Wendy :) I think we needed that sort of "clearing" and "explanatory" discussion :)
I can see lots of lovely crafty creations there. Fab!

oh my goodness, you have torn the dictionary!!! (I collect dictionaries and all sorts of language/linguistic books so for me it feels like a sacrilege ha ha :P) I wonder what's gonna be made out it! a mixed media journal perhaps?

Your sewing looks good, judging from the photo. will you reveal some more? :)

Hi! I have just discovered your blog and I thought I'd enter the linky. I love it, I look forward to checking the other posts.

Martha: haha, I promise it was already falling apart. Not a journal, but I will reveal all when I'm allowed to (it needs to be in the magazine first).

Feisty Tapas: welcome - hope you enjoy it x

Thanks everyone for your comments x

You know, Chris, I've just looked at it again after your comment and it does look peaceful, doesn't it? It's Llandudno, and we were sat on the edge of the busy prom. It was lovely, but not quite as tranquil as it looks!

LOL we'll keep it secret, I'm laughing at that!
Anyway, glue always interests me. I had it all over me earlier today. :)

I can keep a secret, so it's ok you can whisper what you've been creating.

Hello

I stumbled across your blog. Always a pleasure seeing another crafter getting pleasure from what they do.

I sometimes make my own Christmas cards, I make lino cuts and print them on my old hand press

Im'e a gilder and use gold leaf and imitation gold leaf rather a lot.

Have you thought of gilding onto paper?

It's really quite easy to gild onto paper, and there are various ways to create antique and distressed finishes as well.

If you have a moment, pop over to my site, there is quite a lot about gilding onto paper, in particular there is an old bookbinders trick which you can use to make really authentic looking imitation vellums and parchment papers from ordinary papers.

Good luck to us all.
