The book is called New Wings for Old Things: Sew, Stick, Splatter and Salvage. What a fabulous title!
True to its title, this book is full of projects which will inspire you to upcycle your unwanted and unloved items into something stylish and special. It's not just inspiration - there are also step by step instructions to help you in case you get stuck.
I rather like this old picture frame converted into memo pockets. It could hold your post in the hallway, your patterns next to your sewing machine or your small business receipts in your office.
But what's even more special is that this book has been written and published with the idea of raising funds for the Children's Air Ambulance. I can't imagine how desperately helpless parents must feel when their child is ill enough to have to use an air ambulance - just thinking about it is a very sobering thought. It shocked me to discover that this service receives no government funding whatsoever - it runs entirely on donations from the public.
So I think that makes your purchase of this gorgeous little book so very worthwhile, don't you? I know there are many charities after your money and they are all worthwhile - but by purchasing this book you are getting something rather lovely back!
To buy your copy for only £5.99 (is that a good price, or what? I've come across magazines more expensive than that!) go to directly to the Air Ambulance shopping page. It would make a superb Christmas gift (or buy a copy for yourself and make your own Christmas gifts with the inspiration of the book!).
There's more information about the work of the Children's Air Ambulance here.
