Hearts and Flowers for Valentine's Day!

It seems appropriate somehow that on Valentine's Day I find myself working on a hearts and flowers project.

Actually, it's probably a bit more about scissors and sewing than hearts and flowers.

What I'm making is a hanging heart, with pockets for holding scissors.  Kind of a scissor keeper, to hang on the wall.  A heart seemed the perfect shape, and with all those layers, there will be a perfect pocket for every pair of scissors.

I hope that, as well as looking pretty and being useful,  this heart will have magical properties... because I expect to be able to always find the right pair of scissors exactly when I need them.  Ha!  What are my chances?

I was planning to do this as a blog tutorial, but having started it, I'm not sure - it might work better as a downloadable pattern, so we'll see how it goes.  Check back soon for an update!

Meanwhile, if you like the look of the starry denim or the flowery cotton print, they're from Wholeport.

What a delightful scissors holder. I'm always loosing mine so a holder like this would be perfect for me !!!

I love the fabric you've used. I checked out Wholeport's website and they have some lovely fabric.

I've never bought from the US before. The cost of postage has always put me off.

A few years ago I made a square one but the Heart shape works so much better, the fabric is lovely too.

Have a great day.

Gertie - Wholeport are in China, but don't let that put you off! I think the fact they are based there means they can offer really good prices and a really wide selection. They ship worldwide.

Jan - yes, the heart shape makes sense for scissors, doesn't it? Did yours work in making sure your scissors are organised and always to hand?

Very pretty and I like how the scissors fit right in the pockets. :)

Thanks for that Wendy. I just assumed that with the prices being in $ then it must be the US.

How long does the delivery from China normally take.

Delivery from China is quicker than you might imagine - about 5 days usually but it can be quicker.

This sounds like a really interesting book. It's always good to see what you've had in your mind for a while, written down in black and white. It sort of makes it feel 'right' :)
