Handmade Monday 71

Hello and welcome to Handmade MondayHandmade Monday.  Click the link for more information and how to join in.

This week I've:

1. finished the Sewing World article and sent it in.  It's the travel sewing kit and might be on the front cover of the August issue, which is very exciting indeed.

2. almost finished the laptop/travel/weekend bag I'm making for the Abakhan £15 budget challenge.  I'll blog about this on Tuesday, along with the problems I've had with it! I think perhaps it needs a better name than laptop/travel/weekend bag!

It seems to have a pocket for everything, so maybe I should call it after my Mum (Agnes) who always had everything in her handbag when we were kids, including emergency chocolate for me as I always used to get headaches if a meal was late (now we know them as migraines, and emergency chocolate was probably not the best idea, although I remember it being very welcome indeed at the time!).  She still has a bag with a hundred pockets although nowadays she needs to upzip about ten of them before finding what she's looking for.  Actually, it was probably always that way!

3. made a start on designing some greetings cards. This is something that's been on my to-do list for far too long.  I'm hoping to sell the designs to a publisher - eventually - but if nobody wants to buy them then maybe I'll print them myself (but I'd really prefer not to).

It feels good outlining what I've done - I have so many balls in the air, I forget which ones need catching next!

Oh, and Happy Father's Day to all the Dads out there - including mine!

Over to you!

Well done on the completion of your sewing kit and good luck with the 'Agnes' bag, some things are sent to try us and often a task that in theory should be quick is not

Your travel sewing kit is such a fab idea! it definitely deserves to make the front cover :) fingers crossed!

Your many pocketed 'Agnes' bag looks lovely - i agree that you can't have too many pockets (although remembering what you've put in each could be trickier in my case!!)

Well done for getting so much done this week! x

Your bag of many pockets is looking good. I like the idea of emergency chocolate (but not the migraines)

Have a great week.

I know just what you mean about the bag with a thousand pockets. My ancient aunt has one and the most anoying thing about it is she won't start looking for her purse at a till unhjtil the cashire actually has her hand out for the money so we have a 10 min. period of holding the queue up.lol.
Look forward to seeing your article, I am sure it will be well received. Who knows, maybe the start of a new angle to your career. Wendy the author. Sounds good.

How exciting to have your tutorial published... cannot wait to point it out to friends at the newsagent!

The bag is quite a challenge for that price, am looking forward to seeing the finished item :)

I think the "Agnes" bag sounds great. And what a lovely photo of your Dad.

All those pockets. Great for being organized, although, me being me, would just over fill them and still not find what I was looking for. Congrats on being published.
